Bangkok Nature Parks
Escape from all that shopping, temples-sightseeing and Bangkok traffic, and head to these 'green lungs' in Bangkok. There are a few scenic parks in Bangkok where you can enjoy fresh air, lush greenery and outdoor activities.
Lumpini Park
- Bangkok's oldest and largest park
- See old folks practicing the tai chi, couples taking a stroll or just about anyone coming here for the clean, fresh air.
- Activities available include paddleboats, free aerobioc classes and basketball courts.
- Muscial performances are also held here occassionally.
Chatuchak Park
- Located on the northern side of Bangkok
- Locals come here to walk or jog along the green tracks or to simply appreciate the nature.
- Don't miss the Thai Literature and the Herb Garden, or watch fishes from the bridge over the pond.
- Facilities include tennis courts and soccer fields.
- Visit the Train Museum and Youth Traffic Garden while here.
Santiphap Park
- A small, compact park in the centre of the Victory Monument area.
- Enjoy Jazz music performance, or watch local families bring their kids out.
King Rama IX Park
- This park is divided into different 'zones'.
- One zone pays home homage to a king
- Another is a botanical area with plants and herbs
- Another zone is a conservation area for aquatic animals,
- The last zone is a multi-purpose ground for sports and festivals.
Santichaiprakarn Park
- A popular park built around one of the few remaining structures of the old city fortifications.
- Come here in the evening when the park comes alive with families and couples.
- The nearby Phra Artit road has several eating places and pubs.
