Silom Shopping
Silom by day is filled with office workers grabbing a quick bite at the fancy restaurants or street stalls here. But by night, Silom nightlife comes alive with endless bargain shopping and loud Thai music spilling out from the many bars and pubs.
Here are some of the great shopping places in Silom:
Robinson's
This is a modern department store easily accessible if you are going via the Silom MRT subway staion. Men and women’s clothing, jewellery, housewares and sporting goods are what you will find here. Take a coffee break at Starbucks café on the ground floor before you pop by Silom Complex next.
Silom Complex
Silom Complex is further down Silom and you can get there by a walkway from the MRT station and the Sala Daeng BTS stop. This is where you find Central Department Store, which carries moderately priced clothes, toys and household items. You can also satisfy your sweet tooth by grabbing some pretzels from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels or having a cuppa at Black Canyon Coffee. If you want some books and magazines, head to Bookazine at the ground floor for a wide range of English books and magazines. Thai crafts can also be found at the ground floor.
Patpong Night Bazaar
Across Silom Complex is the famous Patpong Night Bazaar. While many may call it Bangkok’s red-light district, this is where you can practice your bargaining skills as you buy leather goods, designer handbags, watches, souvenir T-shirts, etc. The market stays open until midnight.
Jim Thompson’s factory sales outlet
A short walk from Patpong is a Jim Thompson’s factory sales outlet, selling luxuriant Thai silk. Find silk ties, shirts, cushion covers and scarves here. Ties range from 1000 baht to 1,350 baht.
