For a unique eating experience, try eating some Bangkok durians.

 

Thai durians are noted for their “subtle flavour and smooth texture” and  generally tend to be have creamier, sweeter with a more golden yellow flesh.  Durian  flesh should be slightly soft to the touch.

 

First-time tasters of Durians should go for the Mon Tong or the Golden Pillow Durian.  It has a light creamy texture and (get this) is the mildest of durians.  Other popular varieties include the cha ni and the kan yao.

Ok ok, if you are really not going to try the real thing, at least have a go at cakes or desserts made with durian.  In Bangkok, you can try the Durian ice-cream, or Khao Nieow Turian - Sticky Rice topped with durian meat cooked in a coconut cream sauce, and Turian Kuan, preserved durian toffee, or jams.
