Bangkok Health Tips
Generally, Bangkok is a safe and healthy place to travel. Medical facilities, such as the world-renowned Bumrungrad Hospital, is also excellent in Bangkok. And most of all, get professional medical advice before you travel.
- Avoid dehydration during the hot season (March to June) by drinking plenty of bottled water.
- You may get diarrhoea while adjusting to Bangkok climate and food, and this should be mild and pass in a day or two. Get anti-diarrhoeal medication if it persists. And hospitalization, if combined with vomiting.
- Tap water is not potable. Bottled water is cheap and available everywhere.
- If you plan to eat from a streetside vendor, do look for one that looks clean, or seems to have more locals sitting down and eating. However, if you are new to Asia and have a sensitive stomach, roadside food stalls are not recommended.
- Carry toilet paper or wet wipes around with you as they are usually not found in public toilets.
- Mosquitoes carry the threat of dengue, especially during the rainy season. Use a repellant and wear body-covering clothes at dusk.
- Before getting a tattoo, make sure all instruments are cleaned in front of you, and a fresh needle is used each time.
